Luke 10:25-37
We all like travel stories
Shows like Bear Grills Man Vs Wild
tamer ones like Getaway
exotic locations with their quirky challenges in The Amazing race
Or food shows like Shane Delia’s Spice Journey in Turkey or Food Safari
Or even the food challenges of Hamish & Andy
Isaiah 57:12-21

Becoming a Life Long Trader 2:23sec
The things we value keep showing up in the ways we live
Just as Isaiah keeps us moving to look at life
Some of the stuff we get to in this book of Isaiah is history
When Isaiah writes this
He writes for future generations to look backwards
Isaiah tells us we start to see the pattern
Isaiah 56:1-8

Isaiah 55:1-13
We jump from Isaiah 40 the God of all comfort
To the one who makes peace in Isaiah 55
It’s peace that stands in Isaiah on the back of an oncoming captivity
King Hezekiah has a near death experience
He recovers only to receive a bunch of envoys from Babylon
Envoys bringing a gift to celebrate his recovery from illness that nearly brought about his death
In return King Hezekiah shows the Babylonian envoys absolutely everything there was to see in Jerusalem, the temple, the royal treasury, where the gold and silver and royal spices were all stored
Luke 19:11-27
The parables grab me in the way Jesus makes me face up to some of the hard things of my life
how am I going as a disciple of Jesus
is that even how I see myself
or even have a go at life that way
one thing I know is how much of an inconsistent performer at life I am
like the question how well do I go at spending time in relationship with God through prayer
is the quality of my prayer life up there with the quality of conversations with other people
Isaiah 36:1-37:7
Keeping up with the news feels daunting at times
Like now as we speak over in the middle east
It’s certainly been on our news all this week
In Iraq we know a crisis is unfolding in a way that feels like a direct connection with what we read of in our Bibles
Militant Islamic jihadist from a group called ISIS have been sweeping across the northern frontiers of Iraq
ISIS are going house to house putting a simple mark on some houses
It’s a dot in the centre top with like smiley face bottom
It’s the Arabic letter fro N for them it stands for Nazarene of Christian
Isaiah 12:1-6
What do you reckon is the top charting song in western pop music over the past 55 years
Billboard had a look at what topped the charts the longest
With the 100 best chart topping hits
The way they ranked it was number of weeks the song spent at number one on the Billboard charts and the sales of that song
Here’s the top 10 of all time from 1958 - 2013
Coming in at number 10 (PPT Slide)
10 "Hey Jude" - The Beatles (1968)
9 "You Light Up My Life" - Debby Boone (1977)
8 "Physical" - Olivia Newton-John (1981)
7 "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)" - Los Del Rio (1996)
6 "I Gotta Feeling" - The Black Eyed Peas (2009)
5 "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennett & GoonRock (2011)
4 "How Do I Live" - LeAnn Rimes(1997)
3 "Mack the Knife" - Bobby Darin (1959)
2 "Smooth" - Santana feat. Rob Thomas (1999)
1 "The Twist" - Chubby Checker (1960, 1962)
The Twist is the only single to be No. 1 twice on the Hot 100, in two different chart runs. After topping the chart in 1960, the dance caught on with the older generation. Checker was invited to perform "The Twist" on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on Oct. 22, 1961, prompting a re-release of the single and a full-page ad in Billboard that proclaimed, "‘The Twist' dance rage explodes into the adult world!" The grown-ups bought enough copies to send the song back to No. 1 in early 1962.[1]
Like the Twist might surprise us as the longest standing chart stopping winner of being at number #1 and sales
